What exactly is the Starwood Hotels Legacy program? According to Starwood Hotels: “The Starwood Legacy Program extends Legacy rates and in-hotel benefits of our Starwood Preferred Guest® (SPG) program to eligible associates retiring from Starwood Hotels & Resorts as a special “Thank You” for their years of service.” – starwoodhotels.com/legacy
Eligibility for the Starwood Legacy program depends on age and how long the employee has been with Starwood Hotels. For example someone who is age 60 and has been with the firm for more than 5 years would be eligible for the program while those who are age 59 with 4 years of service is not eligible. Employees must have left the corporation in “good standing” and a level higher membership may be obtained as one ages.

- Starwood Legacy rates can only be booked online through the Starwood Hotels Legacy specific web page
- Legacy rates are not provided until the user has selected the hotel and the dates of stay
- These rates are only available to the Starwood associate and their family assuming their family is staying at the hotel for the same night as the associate
- Once the Starwood employee has retired they will receive a SPG/Starwood Legacy card at the Preferred Plus level
- There is no limit to the amount of nights a user can stay under the legacy program
What else does the Legacy program entitle the user to?
- 2 Starpoints per every eligible dollar
- Enhanced Rooms when one is available
- 4 p.m. late checkout, when available (users agree that this is available around 40% of the time)
- Complimentary weekday newspaper (i.e. The Failing New York Times, Wall Street Journal)
